The title of this recording, in Turkish Şeker Oğlan, could be translated as "Sweet Boy". The song was recorded by the violinist and singer Kemany Minas Effendi, the Armenian Minas Chaghatzbanian (see here), in New York, in November 1917 (Columbia 59524 - E 5169).

In the Turkish-speaking repertoire, the song, under the title "Shekar Oghlan" (Şeker Oğlan), was also recorded about thirty years later, around 1948, in New York by Marko Melkon Alemsherian (vocals and oud), Nick Doneff (violin) and Garbis Bakirjian (qanun) for Kaliphon (Kaliphon 705-B).
