This four-page musical score includes the song “Xenychtides” (Night Revelers) from the revue “Peirasmos 1920” (Temptation 1920), with music by Ermis Pongis and text and lyrics by Aimilios Dragatsis. The revue was first presented on 17 June 1920 at the Panorama Theatre by the Samartzis troupe.
The cover of the score is monochrome and decorated with a graphic composition in which the letters “Aim. D.” can be discerned, most likely referring to Aimilios Dragatsis. The names of the creators and the publisher are printed on the cover, along with the three song titles originating from this revue. The title “Xenychtides,” pertaining to this musical score, is underlined. This tactic was common in similar cases. Creating a single cover for more than one songs significantly reduced the cost of musical scores production. The cover also bears the collector's stamp, the stamp of the music publisher Mich. Kazazis and a handwritten dedication.
This is a musical score with a system of three staffs (two for piano and one for voice). At the bottom of the pages of the musical text appears the code “Σ. 48 Γ” (S. 48 G.). The back cover is blank.
For further information on the song and its relationship with other "national" repertoires, examined in the ongoing research project "Cosmopolitanism in Greek Historical Discography", see here.
