The song comes from the three-act operetta by Giorgos Vitalis - Nikos Grimaldis (Nikos Koukoulas) "I Aftou Megaleiotis o eros" (His Majesty, Eros). The operetta premiered at the Luna Park Theater in Alexandria on July 20, 1928. The following participated in the play: Mar. Kapsani, Mairi Flery, Manos Filippidis, Mich. Kofiniotis, K. Pomonis and others.
The date of the premiere is also confirmed by the poet Constantine Cavafy in his letter to Rika Segkopoulou (see here).
In Greece, the play premiered on January 29, 1929 at the Kentrikon Theater in Athens by the Oikonomou-Samartzis troupe.
