It is the only recording of the renowned and most beloved singer of Smyrna (Izmir) Theodoros Mavrogenis, also known as "to Thodoraki". According to his death certificate, found by Vasilis Vaseiliadis, he was born in Smyrna (Izmir) in 1860 and died of the flu on 22/1/1940, at the age of 80, in Nikaia, where he settled after the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922.
